Court Catering Equipment has expressed its “deepest regret” at the sad and unexpected passing of its long-serving contracts director Simon Gelber.

Mr Gelber, who had worked at Court for more than 30 years, passed away on New Year’s Day after suffering a heart attack during the Christmas period.

In a statement provided to Catering Insight by managing director, Andy Fitzwater, the London-based dealer said the 65-year-old would be sorely missed by all those that worked with him and knew him.

It stated: “It is with the deepest regret, Court Catering Equipment announces the death of Simon Gelber.

“Following a massive heart attack on Christmas Eve, Simon was admitted to UCH, and then The Royal Brompton Hospital, where doctors fought hard to save his life. His battle ended at 15.30 on New Year’s Day when, after major organ failure, he was allowed to slip away peacefully.

“Simon joined Court Catering in 1988 as part of the sales and design team, leaving his previous role as catering manager at the Queen’s Club.

“Extremely well-respected within the industry, Simon’s wealth of practical experience together with his sharp and meticulous mind, brought accolades from clients, suppliers and peers alike.

“Simon will be sorely missed, not only by his close family, friends and colleagues, but by the industry at large. Our thoughts go to Simon’s partner Sue at this very sad time.”
